Stephenie Meyer Day ’09

The great people of Forks, Washington have announced their plans for this year’s Stephenie Meyer Day. This year, it is going to be celebrated for two days – September 12th to the 13th. And doesn’t Stephenie deserve the two days?

Here’s early notice–Stephenie Meyer Day 2009 is happening September 12-13, 2009, in Forks, WA!!  While this year’s event is still in the organizational stages, based on the overwhelming response last year, we want everyone (including folks in, um, Arizona . . . ) to have a chance to make plans to be here on Bella’s Birthday to celebrate with us.  Now is the time to make lodging reservations in Forks or LaPush for this weekend–the entire area was booked solid last year.   Many fans arrived before the weekend and/or stayed a day or two afterward, to have more time to fully enjoy everything the area has to offer.

Last year’s event featured Forks High School tours; the Mayor’s Proclamation; Bella’s Birthday Cake; a Group Photo; Bella, Edward and Jacob Look-Alike Contests; Book Readings and Discussion; a Wolf Dance and a Bonfire with Native Storytelling in LaPush; along with access to gobs of Twilight-relatedmerchandise, opportunities to see the local sights, visit the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center and socialize with hundreds of other totally-out-of-control Twilighters.  How can you beat that?

Do you guys have any good ideas for this year? Let them know, and tell me in the comments! Read the entire blog entry HERE.

Stephenie Meyer on Top

Bow down to the queen. And really, Stephenie Meyer is just that! She has done what no other author (not even JK Rowling) has ever done: sweeping the top four spots in USA Today’s bestseller list.

In a year when publishers and booksellers struggled with a dismal economy, Meyer carried the holidays, accounting for about one in every five books sold since Thanksgiving. Her dominance has continued this year.

“Rowling’s achievement over seven (Harry Potter) books remains singular — for now,” says Michael Cader, founder ofPublishers Lunch, a daily e-newsletter. “But Meyer had an astounding year and played as important a role for retailers.”

Top 10 Jacob/Rosalie Moments in BD

For those of you who still haven’t read, or finished, Breaking Dawn: SPOILER ALERT. Lol. Well, Blast Magazine has a hilarious article on the top 10 Jacob/Rosalie moments in Breaking Dawn. Their little back and forth, snippy comments at each other are my favorite parts of the book!  They had the funniest and best lines in all of BD!

Jacob Black is perhaps the funniest of all of the Twilight characters, and his and Rosalie’s verbal sparring in “Breaking Dawn” is a perfect example of that. In honor of its humor, Blast has picked out our top 10 favorite Jacob and Rosalie moments from “Breaking Dawn”. These scenes are only taken from book two as it was from Jacob’s perspective and far more cynical because of that. Feel free to post your own favorite Jacob/ Rosalie moments, but remember, this article is our opinion only.

10 – “Breaking Dawn” page 278

I groaned and opened my eyes. The skies were dull gray — it was daytime, but no clue as to when. Maybe close to sunset — it was pretty dark.

“About time,” Blondie mumbled from not too far away. “The chainsaw impersonation was getting a little tired.”

Haha. Read the rest of the countdown here.

Twilight DVD #1 on Amazon

As if this was any surprise, but the Twilight DVD is #1 on Amazon in the category Movies and TV! So I’m not the only one super excited! In addition to the DVDclaiming the number one spot, the Twilight books are also filling positions 1-4 p in the book category, and the score and soundtrack are numbers 2 and 3 in music. AWESOME! Seems Twilighters hold the power. :]

2008: Year of the Vampire

Apparently 2008 was the best year ever. Why? Because it was named the “Year of the Vampire” by Reuters. I wonder if Twilight had anything to do with it? Probably not. Not many people have heard of it… HA!

No surprise to tween girls or their parents, the best-selling book was “Breaking Dawn,” also known as the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga.

I wonder if that means ’09 will be year of the werewolf? Hmm… Perhaps. Read the full article HERE.

Stephenie Meyer Update

Stephenie’s site has been updated! It includes some of the recognition and kudos she has gotten from various magazines and other awesome people. Year well done, Steph!

December 29, 2008

Since 2008 is almost over, I thought I would take a minute to congratulate Stephenie on a successful year. A lot of very exciting things have happened this year, and it has been fun for those of us who are fans of the writing to follow along.

Several major media outlets have also noted the success, and (as long as I am posting something that Stephenie probably wouldn’t approve of) I thought I would post a few of the links for those of you who haven’t heard about the recognition and praise that she has received for the year of 2008:

TIME’s List of ‘People Who Mattered’
USA TODAY’s ‘Author of the Year’
MSN’s ‘Most Influential Women’
THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC’s ‘Most Fascinating People’
OK, I know that the AZ Republic may not be as big as TIME, but it is a very cool experience to be able to open up the paper and be surprised by an article about a family member, so I thought I would include it. Anyway, congrats, Stephenie, and thanks to everyone for joining us during this crazy and exciting year. We wish you all the best in 2009!
